Four countries in twenty four hours

Celebrity Century

We have been in four countries in twenty-four hours. We sailed away from Barcelona to a glorious sunset. The weather rocked a bit after dinner but for me it made for a very good sleep. I seem to sleep my best when I am at sea.

Upon our wake-up call this morning, I showered and headed to a yummy breakfast. The Celebrity Cruises difference showed itself as I was fawned over and totally pampered just while enjoying some bacon and eggs in the main dining room.

Pictures of Barcelona Market and Gaudi Apartment

without comments

usonlapradellatop

We are currently in the Western Mediterranean onboard Celebrity Century bouncing around just a bit. The winds are only 11 knots, but the sea is a bit bumpy.

Anyway here are some pictures of the day before we boarded. We went to the Market on Las Ramblas before heading to the Gaudi Apartment house. At the market, we were wondering how do you decide which vendor to buy from and we saw that ALL the piggies went to market.

The apartment of Gaudi was amazing. Please enjoy and look for more tomorrow as we venture into Cannes, France and beyond.

Gaudi to Century Departing Barcelona

without comments

The morning wake up call was bitterly early this morning. Laura had wanted to set it because she wanted to walk to Las Ramblas to see the open market. Her intention was to see the restaunteurs and chefs negotiate with the purveyors. We missed that part after an early breakfast.

Walking down towards the harbor we saw the various street performers setting up for the day. All of the people who would appear later posing in costume looked like you and I. I felt a bit like I seen Mickey Mouse without his head on in the back stage areas of Disney. Most would turn their back when photographed.

An American in Barcelona Day Two

with one comment

The highlight of the day was a visit to La Sagrada Familia, the still under construction cathedral designed originally by Gaudi. I wanted to share pictuers of what we witnessed today. Our next update is planned to occur from Celebrity Century.

Imagine what we have done and shared so far and know that we have a seven night cruise and convention yet to experience. Wish you could be with us. Happy Sailing!

From Madrid to Barcelona

without comments

Greetings from Barcelona, Spain. It is just before 1am here and I am quiet tired. I thought I would just share some of the highlights of the day in picture form. Just so you would know what you are looking at, I can tell you we left our home for the past two days in Madrid and traveled to Toledo.

We visited the Cathedral high above the current city and it was beautiful. I found it interesting that Jewish, Muslim and Christians all occupied various parts of the city all in peace for centuries. You can see the evidence of this with a Star of David in the Rose Window, there is also a plaque noting the Jewish section of the old city.
