Would you like to feed your burning desire and your fascination with volcanoes? You may be surprised by how many of them you can visit via cruise ship. Whether you are a casual fan or a serious vulcanologist, cruise ships can take you to some of the world’s most famous volcanoes.

One of thee days I will again visit Pompeii. One of the greatest memories of our Western Mediterranean cruise was our stop at Naples and our visit to Pompeii. This 15 acre complex was devastated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
Even today, concerts and other events are presented in the amphitheater. In October, 1971, Pink Floyd recorded three songs live without an audience.
If you ever get a chance to visit, take the time to explore the remains of Roman life. You can get there on a visit to Italy by land or even on a Mediterranean cruise. One of these days I will again visit Pompeii, and my hope is you will get a chance as well!

It is nearly noon on Saturday and I am sitting in our hotel room at the Hotel Colon in Barcelona. We have just completed a nearly two week land tour and cruise from Madrid to Barcelona, Cannes, Portofino, Livorno, Civitavecchia, and Naples.
