Happy New Year 2012
Welcome to 2012. Let me wish you Happy New Year. Laura and I would like to thank all of our blog readers, our friends and our clients for helping make 2011 our most successful year yet. Our business continues to grow year over year, and we know we could never have done it without you.
Rewards do not come cheap but they are worth it
This past Tuesday I took my daughter to see a performance of the musical Wicked at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. She has to read a certain amount each quarter for school. Based on testing of her reading, she earns what are called AR (Accelerated Reader) points. Her teacher requires 10 AR points; 15 if she wants to attend a party at school. I told her I wanted her to earn 20 points. As of last week, she had earned 24 points with another week to go in the semester. I felt she earned a reward for not only meeting but exceeding my expectations.
What does a pen have to do with travel
What does a pen have to do with travel? Why on earth would I take up a post on my blog and your time to write about a pen? First off I think a quality pen allows you to write a wonderful journal when you travel!
I also believe that we are losing the art of the hand-written note. Our communication has become almost all electronic with email, Facebook, twitter, and more. Am I the only one who gets a thrill when I receive a handwritten letter, card or note? For one, it is not a bill, nor do I consider it junk mail. Secondly, you are more than likely to hang on to a good quality pen.
Looking back ten years ago today
I remember turning on the news. We were living in Oklahoma City on September 11, 2001. Laura had just called to let me know she had landed in St. Louis and was on her way to the office. The news was showing images of one of the towers at the World Trade Center on fire. A plane had crashed into it, and, being a pilot, I knew it was not a small plane as they were speculating.
The Stay at Home Dad allowance plan
If you have been reading this blog for awhile, you may know that I am stay at home dad of a now eight-year old daughter. Besides running a business where I truly love what I do, I am trying to raising a girl into a woman who will have a strong work ethic and eventually not have to be dependent on me or anyone else. I want her to determine her station in life through her actions and work. Since she was in kindergarten, she has had an allowance.
