An honest to goodness Port Expert on Holland America
Two weeks ago, while sailing on Holland America’s Eurodam, I had a chance to sit down with an honest to goodness port expert. Her name is Danielle Moore, and she is employed by Holland America. Holland America’s Port Experts are not the same as the “port shopping guide” you may have seen on HAL or other cruise lines. Port Experts are now found on every Holland America ship on every sailing.
Eurodam Club Hal review by my daughter
Some of the email and comments I received during and after my dad and daughter Holland America cruise have to do with Club Hal. So I decided to interview my daughter about her experience. In her own words, here is a Eurodam Club Hal review by my daughter.
Q: Overall what did you think of Club Hal?
A: I think it was fun, but if you are seven you might be aware that the kid’s club can have a lot of 3 and 4 year olds. I can’t wait to move in to Club Hal for the older kids.
Almost Paradise at Half Moon Cay
With apologies to Mike Reno and Nancy Wilson, it was almost paradise at Half Moon Cay today. We had a great time and now our cruise is almost at an end. Enjoy the photos from the day. It would have been ABSOLUTE paradise had my wife been able to join me. Thank you again for cruising along with us. We were in port with Holland America’s Noordam which made things a bit crowded, but it is a rarity to have two ships at once at Half Moon Cay. I will have a few more things to say about this cruise and an interview with the travel expert next week.

A day of Simplicity at St Thomas with Charles Whittemore
Today was a day of Simplicity at St. Thomas. We spent a full day in port on the sailing vessel Simplicity out of the American Yacht Club in Red Hook.
We arrived into the pier at Crown Bay on Holland America’s Eurodam this morning just before 8 a.m. After inquiring how much it costs for a taxi from Crown Bay to Red Hook, we were off. By the way, it costs $11 per person. We shared a taxi with another lovely family we have met on board. Their son turned nine today, and they spent the day on another vessel I helped them book.
