Day 1 of the Daddy-daughter cruise comes to a close

without comments

The day has come to an end. My daughter is in bed and slowly getting ready to fall asleep. I should be soon to follow.

We ran into our neighbors as we were coming into the dining room. What a nice surprise to run until such a nice family. This is their first time on this ship. I am sure they will have a great time.

We are sailing away!

It is around 5:25 and we have just set sail. We are following the Disney Magic out of the Channel at Port Canaveral. At this time we still are without luggage. To me this stresses the importance of packing a change of clothes for the first night’s dinner. I have managed to shower and am ready for dinner.

I got my daughter registered for the kid’s club and she may go there tonight. However there is a late night parade plus the welcome aboard show. My daughter is a bit of a show lover so we may spend our time watching the shows.

Denied the Flowrider

Unfortunately my daughter is just a bit too short to ride the boogie board. We are about 10 minutes away from the muster drill. Now no life jackets are required for the drill which is a nice change. Will have more to post and pictures later!

Beautiful day here in Sunny Central Flordia. we were on the ship by 11:37.

A ship can avoid storms; WDW cannot

I mentioned earlier that we drove through some heavy storms through downtown Atlanta. I was hydroplaning all over the place. It was slow going. We are now settling down for the evening before we depart tomorrow. It so happens that my daughter has a school break in September. Her district returns the first Monday in August.  This is a perfect time for a vacation in general as most families have returned to work and school after Labor Day.

As I was driving in the rain, I was thinking of all of those families who were headed down to the beaches of Florida or to Walt Disney World. A quick check of the forecast for Orlando revealed the following.
