My daughter and I made it back home just before 4pm yesterday afternoon. I was glad to see my wife again and she was glad to see us. My daughter never left mom’s side. I have a ton of pictures to go through.

However, the laundry is all done, it just needs to be folded. I have to face mowing the lawn and other at home chores this afternoon. It rained torrentially while I was gone and I am hoping it will be dry enough to attempt a mowing before the garbage trucks come tomorrow.

The final evening at Sea

packedup

The bags are almost packed. My daughter is in the kid’s club saying her last goodbyes. We had our final dinner in the dining room and said our goodbyes to our new friends. It was among the best meals of the cruise.

The day was filled with time by the pool, pool games and believe it or not a two and a half hour nap this afternoon. Something about the gentle rocking of the ship lulled us to sleep. I am so glad I put in for a wake up call!

The beginning of the final day at sea

saturday

My watch says it is 9:14 a.m. I am sitting in a deck chair somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. I have a view of the H20 Zone Water park on Freedom of the Seas, and my daughter is lounging in a hot tub. It is rather windy on deck, but life is grand!

wake

I have been up since 6:30. I was one of about 10 people gathered around the aft on deck 12 this morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean. I walked through the ship from bow to stern taking pictures along the way. Due to the slowness of the internet on-board, I will save most of my photographic tour for future blogs.

A Day at Sea

without comments

shaveIt is day 6 of the cruise and for the first time, we have sailed into a bit of a rainshower. From the satellite it appears there is rain all around us, but it is not stormy by any means whatsoever. The captain is doing his noon update and he said within the hour we will be sailing into clear weather.

I wanted to post a quick update of things to do on this ship, a few are repeats of activities we did earlier and some are new. Later today I hope to share some other things you can do when cruising on this wonderful ship.

The weather has been both typical and unusual. It has been typically hot in the Caribbean during the “low season” which runs from late April to early November. What has been unusual is the fact that there have been no tropical systems affecting neither the islands nor the cruise. Right at this moment is typically the peak of hurricane season. Cruising right now is one of the reasons we recommend travel insurance. Taking this same cruise next year could easily end up in disruptions to a cruise experience you have planned for months.
