Missed Hubbard Glacier Calving

Missed Hubbard Glacier Calving

Many of my greatest travel memories have been captured with my digital camera. I can go back and look at those pictures again and again and relive those memories. On the other hand, I have been at times so focused on looking at the LCD screen or through the viewfinder, I have missed living in the moment.

Chuck and our daughter at Hubbard Glacier

Chuck and our daughter at Hubbard Glacier

This morning I was looking back at pictures from our first cruise. We went to Alaska in 2004. My daughter was just 15 months old. Now she is eight and quite the cruise veteran. I still have the pictures from the cruise. So many of them look like others I have seen on the internet. There are the same shots of Hubbard Glacier.

How did mud get there

Muddy from ATV riding near Denali National Park

Muddy from ATV riding near Denali National Park

Last year, I wrote extensively while we were on our Celebrity Cruises’ Alaska CruiseTour. My daughter and I were looking at pictures from our adventure when she asked, “How did mud get there?” I reminded her this was the day we all rode ATVs through the mud near Denali National Park. She was full of huge smiles as she began to remember that day.

It looks like Alaska here today in North Georgia

This morning it looks like Alaska here today in North Georgia. It least our version of a winter in Alaska. We have been their twice, but in the summer. It was actually warm enough to wear shorts many days during our visit.

Did you know a cruise to Alaska is what got us hooked on a love of cruising. That September 2004 adventure is what eventually led us to owning our cruise focused travel agency. The advantage of a cruise include the ability to see many destinations while unpacking only once; your meals and lodging and entertainment are included in the cost of the cruise fare; your family actually has meals together again.
