Animal crackers and not meeting expectations
Last year, when my daughter was preparing to go to summer camp for the first time, she read about a nightly ritual. On the daily schedule she saw the following entry:
10:15 pm – Devotional, Milk & Cookies
For weeks she thought about those cookies. She had visions of the type of cookies. She thought about how warm would they be; how cold would the milk be; how many would she get? She could feel them in her mouth, she could practically taste them. I think she was dreaming about those cookies. When we dropped her off thinking about all of the adventures she would have: Horseback riding, sports, leadership, team-building while we are sure all she thought about were those cookies.
It wasn’t until we picked her up and was driving her home when we asked about those cookies. In the back of the car, came this very quiet yet disappointed voice.
They were Animal Crackers
Clearly her expectations were not been met. She did have a good time nonetheless. She just missed having the type of cookies she had been imagining.
Travel can be just like that. Have you looked at brochures or more recently pictures on the internet of vacation destinations, resort rooms, cruise facilities? Have you ever arrived at the destination and had that same animal cracker feeling my daughter experienced? You still had a good time on vacation, after all you didn’t have to cook or clean for a week, but there was somewhat of a let down during the trip.
My job as your travel consultant is to help you manage your expectations. If we have to make certain compromises because of your availability to travel or your desire not to fly to a port, I want to make sure you know what you will experience based on the available options. I would rather you come home pleasantly surprised having experienced something I didn’t mention versus coming home having your expectations not being met. It is one of the reasons we have a money back guarantee of our fee. We believe that by asking you to pay a fee for our advice and service entitles you to have your expectations not only met, but exceeded. Should you ever come back from vacation not having those expectations met, we will refund our fee. No questions asked.
I look forward to serving you in the near future. You can reach me at the phone number below. I look forward to hearing from you!
