Of Honor, of Sacrifice and of Treason
I have been thinking more about my late father in the past few weeks. I wrote about his love of history on Father’s Day. On this day, July 4, 2011 I think about him again as America celebrate’s Independence Day.
If you ask 10 random people what today means, they may bring up picnics and fireworks. If you ask them exactly what this day represents, you may get 10 different answers. For me today remains a day of honor, of sacrifice and of treason. Today represents that hot sweltering day in July when the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Congress. Did you know that today is not the day when the document was actually signed? This would not the take place until August 2nd.
I want to share with you an article written by Rush Limbaugh, Jr. He was the father of the Rush Limbaugh III currently on the radio. Politics and your feelings about Rush aside, I urge you to read this article and learn about those 56 men who you may know or may not. Read about their fate as they undertook this act of sacred honor, made the sacrifice and committed treason against King and Crown: “The Americans who Risked Everything.” My own father would have loved this piece.
Laura and I wish you a very safe and happy 4th of July. Thank you for coming here to read.
