Does Mini Club Med compare to a cruise
I was emailed a question yesterday, “Does Mini Club Med compare to a cruise kid’s program?” To answer that, I turned to my own daughter to describe her first experience with Mini Club Med here in Cancun. Here are her remarks with a little editing from me:
First one here
Did you know that Club Med Yucatan Cancun was the first one here? I mean it was the first resort built along this stretch of beach along the Caribbean Sea.
I had a late breakfast with a couple from San Francisco who has been coming to the Yucatan for fifteen years. They talked how Club Med had their choice of locations and picked this end of the beach. When you would look to the north along the beach, there was nothing where now there is resort after resort. What I love about this particular location is it is situated such that there is a swimming beach as well as a rocky beach that is perfect for snorkeling with reefs and coral. Other activities include kayaking and sailing.
Can the front desk make the tv shows in English
It is a question no father is prepared to hear, but today my daughter asked it. From her innocent seven year old mouth came the following phrase: “Can the front desk make the tv shows in English?” I truly was not prepared for the day my daughter would ask this. It is true, she doesn’t understand why the television at a restaurant has to show commercials. She even makes the fast forward button pushing motion with her thumb the minute a commercial comes on.
Sopping wet down to our underwear
It is almost midnight on the Yucatan Peninsula and we are sopping wet down to our underwear. My daughter and I started our day before the break of dawn and we are tuckered out.
We arrived into Cancun 30 minutes early and after clearing customs. We ended up having all of our belongings rifled through as we were randomly selected for a more thorough search. After you go through immigration, you collect your luggage and all of it goes through a large x-ray. They as you hand in your customs declaration form, you press a button which turns a light green, meaning have a nice stay in Mexico; or it turns red as ours did and you get approached by someone wearing gloves who asks that you grab your ankl…wait sorry. Needless to say, my daughter did not appreciate having all our stuff gone through.
Can you imagine a more perfect day
Can you imagine a more perfect day? Relaxing on the beach with a fruity drink in one hand and your daughter playing in the sand just feet from your feet!
Here we are at Club Med Cancun Yucatan. We have been in the pool, had lunch, had a few fruity drinks with and without alcohol and now have time for a siesta. Internet access is spotty in my room but I promise I will have a more thorough report and pictures.
However, I have to ask again; can you imagine a more perfect day?
