Today I wanted to spend a few minutes writing about the river cruise experience. Did you know one of the best ways to experience the history and culture of certain parts of the world is by taking a river cruise? Don’t get me wrong, I love cruising on an ocean going ship! However, today I want to share a different way to cruise.

In Europe, the cities were built along and near the rivers. These historical monuments and destinations are steps away from a ship sailing the Rhine or Danube. In Russia, you can sail the Volga and visit not only Moscow and St. Petersburg but Uglich, Kostroma and Yaroslavl as well. You also have the opportunity to sail the Mekong River and experience the wonderful people of Vietnam and Cambodia. Because of the extensive lock system, it is possible to cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. Many lines including AMAWaterways have bicycles onboard you can use to explore the various cities. There are paths along the Main and Danube Rivers making it possible to leave your boat at one port and catch up in the next port. If we did it, we would make sure it was downhill!

You can also use a river cruise boat as your floating hotel while enjoying the beauty of tulips in full bloom in Holland! In fact next year, we are inviting clients, blog readers, photographers and garden lovers on a Tulip Time river cruise with AMAWaterways through Holland and Belgium in April 2011. We would love to have you join us. If you would like to learn more about the Tulip Time cruise or the river cruise experience in general, we would love to hear from you. Just give us a call.
