Long after the travel bills are paid you are left with the memories of an incredible vacation. I asked Laura if she thought I should share the cost of the incredible journey and opportunity we had just experienced. She said it is very rude to talk about money, but she did it agree it would help people with their planning.

Quite honestly we upgraded to a larger stateroom, and spent 12 nights on both land and sea during our Celebrity Alaska Cruisetour. As I wrote before, you would have to live at your airport to get an idea of what it would cost just to feed a family of four for 12 nights. Add to that the cost of a hotel room for 12 nights for four people, plus transportation between several cities covering thousands of miles by motorcoach, rail and a cruise ship.

We also did several optional excursions like rafting through an Eagle Preserve in Haines, riding ATVs outside of Denali National Park as well as riding the longest zipline in North America at Icy Strait Point. For four people the cost of these added up, but let me tell you it is the memories of the smiles that will be with me long after the travel bills are paid. We had described the sound that a glacier makes when it is calving to my niece in the days leading up to the day we were actually there.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, can beat the experience of being there and hearing it for yourself. Every 10 seconds during this trip, there was a new postcard view. If you have to scrimp and save like we did for nearly two years, you must make it your mission in life to get you and your family to Alaska.
