Does anyone take Family to Alaska
Does anyone take family to Alaska? It is a common question I and others get. In everyone’s pictures, you see lots and lots of scenery, but rarely to you see anyone else in the picture.
Good afternoon from Juneau, AK. We are in the state capital on a Sunday. We are in port for thirteen hours today and I wanted to just get out a short note to you. We left Seward just before 9pm on Friday. We sailed almost due East to take us to Hubbard Glacier yesterday. The calving of ice chunks into the water was very spectacular. The captain of the ship was able to get us within a mile and it is a sight to see.
We woke up early this morning and for our second time and our other traveling mates first went out with Captain Larry piloting the Awesome Odysea on a whale watching trip. We were able to see a young whale playing and breaching the water several times under the watchful eye of his or her mother. Then we had the delight of seeing an adult whale lifting all 90,000 pounds of body out of the water in a rare display for these waters of breaching whale. Most of the pictures were too fuzzy to be worth anything, but I think I got a good shot.
Tomorrow we are in Skagway, where we have a six hour float trip planned out of Haines. But the next time someone asks: Does anyone take family to Alaska? I can now share for sure that they do!
Have a wonderful week and check back soon for my next update and cruise virtually with me.

This is awesome. I can’t believe the photo of the whale. What a shot.
