Fairbanks to Vancouver on Celebrity Alaska CruiseTour #11

Our Itinerary for the next 12 days July 11-23, 2010

The flight attendant on our MSP-FAI leg shouted out “Woo Hoo! Here we go” as our Delta 757 lifted off the runway. As I write this, our compass heading reads 281. As we have over a five hour flight, I thought I would share a bit about our journey.

Our 12-night Celebrity Alaska Cruise Tour starts off with our arrival into Fairbanks, Alaska. We will be met by a representative who will get us transferred to our first hotel. There we will meet our tour director(s) who will accompany us for the entire land portion of our journey.

We spend two nights in Fairbanks and I will describe our day as they progress. From Fairbanks, we board the Wilderness Express®, a domed railcar for our journey south to Denali National Park. We will take the Tundra Wilderness Tour after our arrival.

We have the next morning free before boarding the Wilderness Express® again for another domed railcar ride to Talkeetna.

If you were a fan of the television program Northern Exposure, this is the town that entire program was based on and inspired by. When Laura and I were married, we ended up in Leavenworth, Washington for our honeymoon. On one of the days, we drove to Roslyn, WA to visit the set and town where they actually filmed that show. It will be a nice little shout out for us personally. Sixteen years ago! For our ten year anniversary, we cruised on Celebrity Infinity to Alaska from Vancouver for just 7-nights.

Next we head to Anchorage by motorcoach for an overnight stay. We have something special planned based on our research that I cannot wait to share.

From Anchorage, we leave bright and early in the morning for a motorcoach ride down to Seward. We will board Celebrity Millennium and then step off the ship to go explore the Kenai Fjords. I will share more about our ports, but the cruise portion of our 12-Night/13-Day adventure does not begin until this coming Friday.

Our compass heading reads 281 even now. We are meeting our niece and my daughter’s favorite cousin in Fairbanks and then it is “Woo Hoo! Here we go!”
