Mommy and Daughter Cruise Day 6
My wife and daughter are sailing on Norwegian Star for the first time. It is their first cruise just the two of them and their first experience with Freestyle Cruising. Yesterday was a day at sea.
Mommy and Daughter Cruise Day 6
At Sea off the coast of Baja California
It was the first of two days at sea with my six year old as we head back to Los Angeles and things went fairly well. We were able to wake up at a leisurely pace this morning. I spent the first hour getting yesterday’s blog out and the pictures though I am noticing now as we are nearing the end that I am taking fewer and fewer pictures.
We spent the entire day at the pool today and I am paying for that now. I am burned in the oddest places. The wind was unbelievable this afternoon. The deck chairs were moving around the deck by wind alone; it was like bumper chairs. In addition to the beautiful sun and windy conditions, there were plenty of whale and dolphin sightings.
Tonight was the last formal night, if you cared to dress up, the best show we have seen so far and the Chocoholic Buffet. We missed dinner due to a miscommunication and ended up going to the show instead. Tonight’s show, Band on the Run, featured 70s music and dance. In my opinion it is the best show that they have had so far. I enjoyed all the music, singing and dance. At the end of the show, they did a presentation where they recognized all the staff. It was really great to do it at the show rather than at dinner like it has been done on so many of our other cruises. Which brings me to another point…..there is really something to be said about Freestyle Cruising. This is the first cruise where I have made the show every single night, and it has been very enjoyable.
After the show our friends joined us for a quick bite at Blue Lagoon on Deck 8. Blue Lagoon is open 24/7 where you can get bar type food. We made a quick departure to catch the tail end of the Chocoholic Buffet. This must be NCL’s answer to the Midnight Buffet. As the Cruise Director said that it was not to be missed…..903 kids hyped up on chocolate. Every single food service bar in the Market Café was covered with chocolate. What a glorious sight! I had a chocolate covered banana that was superb.
Now that we are all hyped up on chocolate we have turned in for the evening. Our final day aboard Norwegian Star is tomorrow. We are saddened as we will be saying our good byes to all the new friends that we have made. We plan to cherish every moment tomorrow as our first Mommy and Daughter Cruise comes to an end.
