Mom needs a break too

Laura had been watching our daughter and I get away twice this school year. She used the time to herself, yet she was still working and working hard.  She holds a full time job as a structural engineer in addition to being mom to “The Chad” and co-owner of The Flagg Agency. With spring break coming up for our daughter, I came to the realization that mom needs a break too. I know most of you reading know this, I am just a little slow on the uptake. Mom though is one to think of others first in her life. Whether it is for her family or her work, she gives and gives of herself selflessly.

I went searching for a cruise she had never experienced and found one that sailed during spring break. I called her up and said, “You are going on this cruise. Put in for the time off today.” There are some weeks where mom works 70 hours and more at her job outside of the home plus manages to have a family life of soccer games and second job of selling cruises. I know she like many moms across the country and the world, a mental health break will do wonders for her health and well-being. When I tell people that I had to “make my wife take a cruise”, they laugh it off and wish the could be made to take a cruise too. They just don’t understand how focused on the trees Laura becomes that she misses the forest. Besides, our daughter will love some mom and daughter time too without having to share it with dad, grandparents, cousins or anyone else!

Norwegian Star Mexican Riviera Cruise

Norwegian Star Mexican Riviera Cruise

She and our daughter will be sailing next month on Norwegian Star. It will sail from the port of Los Angeles to the ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. This cruise will her first to these destinations and her first taste of Freestyle Cruising.  Norwegian Star is currently completing a stay in dry-dock so everything will be freshened up on-board. Though I have sold NCL cruises before, am enrolled in their online training classes, and conducted an interview with Andy Stuart, there is nothing like experiencing a supplier’s product first-hand. Mom and daughter will be free to do what they want, when they want. If mom wants to drop off our daughter in the Kid’s Krew and go back to sleep in her stateroom, she can. If she wants to enjoy the spa, she can. If she wants to read a book and watch the waves go by, she is free to do that too. It is part of the appeal of Freestyle Cruising.

She will be sending me regular reports and pictures while onboard so I can upload them to the blog so you will be able to once again virtually cruise along with The Flagg Agency. Maybe you too will realize that Mom needs a break too and soon will be booking a getaway for mom with us! We look forward to hearing from you either in the comments here or when you give us a call or send us an email!
