What would we do on a dad and daughter cruise

The man had a panicked look on his face. He said, “What would we do on a dad and daughter cruise?” I had just shared my idea to promote the idea of The Ultimate Dad and Daughter Dance with him and he hit me with that question. Want to know how I really took that? “What would I do on a daughter cruise? How on earth would I keep my daughter entertained…alone…for up to a week?”

I shared with him the story of the first cruise I took alone with my daughter last September. We drove down from NW Atlanta to Cape Canaveral on Saturday. We spent the night at a hotel on Cocoa Beach and then we boarded Freedom of The Seas for a seven night cruise. It was her school’s fall break, and it ended up that mom could not come with us.

There were a few of her friends also on the cruise with us and they had a wonderful time hanging out together. Was it always easy? No, but the bonding we were able to have is priceless.

This cruise we just completed was a bit more challenging in the fact that we spent about 25 hours in the car driving back and forth to the seaport after our flight was canceled. However the bonding we had was still superb. I now have video and pictures of my daughter not only taking to the zipline for the first time, but also swimming with and getting kissed by a sting ray off the shores of Grand Cayman.

We got to dress up and eat civilized meals together as a family and she got to make new friends in a kid’s program that was not terribly crowded due to the time of year we cruised. We also got to swim together in the middle of February and we got to dance!

So the next time you are thinking “What we do on a dad and daughter cruise?” why not check out this very blog for some ideas. Better yet, why not give us a call and let us plan the perfect dad and daughter cruise just for you?
