Howdy, Chuck here! In actuality, it is I who write all of these blog entries though it is my wife and I who own The Flagg Agency! It is hard to  remember to writing in the plural and not keep switching case when it is the royal “we” who write about our love of cruising.

Anyway, I wanted to talk about the number of Facebook updates entries from this past weekend of dad and daughter dances around the country in my network of friends’ profiles. Seeing these made me think about the ultimate dad and daughter dance. There is a bond that dads and daughters have that is nearly impossible to break. What if for the next dad and daughter dance you decided to treat your daughter to a short trip away from phones and email with just the two of you?

Imagine not only having that dad and daughter dance, but up to a week of hugging and laughing, dressing up to the nines and drinking with your pinky extended, and going zip lining or water sliding with that second, third or even fourth girl in your life?

I have done it once this school year and survived. When “the chad” (a term of endearment we use to keep our daughter’s privacy on the internet) and I cruised alone in September, we went to the Eastern Caribbean for a week. Now I know some of you dads out there might be nervous of how are you going to keep your daughter entertained for seven days. Let me assure you there was so much to do on this cruise that that worry was as far from my mind as possible.   The ship had a wonderful kid’s club and there were times when I could not drag her out even way past her normal bedtime. It didn’t matter though as there was no place we “had” to be. Someone else was doing the driving, and the cooking and frankly the cleaning! Talk about heaven! After she went to sleep I did manage to get a bit of work done, but it wasn’t something I had to do. I loved it and she talked about that cruise for weeks!

We are going to do it all again as this coming Saturday we will embark on Crown Princess for a seven night Western Caribbean cruise. Hopefully, we will get time for the ultimate dad and daughter dance. Won’t you sail with us virtually? What would you say to joining us next time? If seven days makes you nervous, we can recommend some shorter cruise experiences for just you and your daughter. In the comments or by email, give me some suggestions on where and when you would like to go and let us start planning together. I promise you, you and your daughter will never forget it.

Should a mom be reading this, why not send this article to the father of your girls and nudge him along! Then you can start planning a girlfriend getaway…and we won’t tell a soul!
