When cruising went mainstream
Thanks for visiting us again! Let us know what topics you would like to learn more about. We are here to serve you. Happy Sailing!
The year was 1977 and during that fall a new show was broadcast on ABC. Its theme song is now etched into the country’s collective mind. The idea was that love could be found, mended or enhanced by a cruise ship experience. The Love Boat brought cruising into the mainstream of America. Week after week (on a Saturday night no less), the country was drawn in by the cast of Gopher, Julie, Isaac, Doc and the Captain and the “cruising” guest stars.
In under two weeks, my daughter and I will be sailing on Crown Princess. Just yesterday Princess Cruises made an announcement. This cruise would be host to a Romance Summit. Reading through the announcement, I noticed.
“The entire Department of Romance will be aboard the special sailing. In addition to current members “Love Boat” captain Gavin MacLeod…”
I will admit that I am not exactly sure what a Department of Romance entails, but I am excited to find out. This of course is the second Dad and daughter cruise we have done and as with all of our travels, we will be blogging “live” from our cruise. I hope you will join us.
If you have questions about this cruise, for Gavin MacLeod, other members of the Department of Romance, please leave them in the comments and I will try to get them answered. I truly believe that cruising went mainstream with the broadcast of The Love Boat and admit I am sort of excited to be on board the same ship as Captain Stubing! I hope you will once again join us virtually as we share take you on a virtual cruise.
Of course when you are ready to take experience a cruise vacation for real, I hope you will think of us to help find the experience that is perfect for you and your family!
