You make Pee Pee Stop before we go

You make Pee Pee Stop before we go

“You make pee pee stop before we start!” was the statement made by Rafael, our private guide for our tour of the ruins of Pompeii.  We have been on a bunch of group guided tours this cruise, and I have to say they have their place. However, when you want a more intimate experience, you should save money in your budget to do a private tour in at least one port.

We were picked up by our driver for the day, Nico promptly just at 7:45 a.m. We went immediately to the ruins of Pompeii telling our driver, we would like to use a guide who spoke English. Nico went to get us a guide, and brought over Nico. We told him our plans for the day and he quoted a price. We accepted the price and began our tour just as the gates to the ruins swung open at 8:30 a.m. Of course, first we had to make pee pee stop! J

The tour was amazing. We took so many pictures and saw so many sights, it is just impossible to describe. You have to find a way to get here yourself to see this wonderful archeological wonder. There are so many artifacts you visit in a museum viewable only behind glass, or behind gates. Pompeii allows you to truly touch and feel what it was like to be a Roman in 79 A.D.

A misprint in the ship’s daily newspapers showed that temperatures were going to be in the 90’s for the day and one of our group was in capri pants and shorts. It was instead 60 and the wind was blowing off the Mediterranean. We were able to adjust our planned tour and instead headed to Sorrento.

We asked to visit a restaurant where the locals would eat and Nico took us to a place his best friend from school owned just on the water in a small fishing village at the base of Sorrento.

From there it was off to Positano for a quick hour of shopping and exploring. This town was both a delight in charm and ability to provide wonderful photo opportunities.

Tomorrow we are at sea and have a surprise in store for us. We have to be up early for a secret meeting.

Thanks as always for cruising with us and please let us know if you have any comments or questions!

Happy Sailing.
